Double Trouble!

  Hey again!

  So last monday was an interesting one.  Started the evening with a game of Magic the Gathering (yet another game to support...).  After being beating up Mads and RRR I sadly fell to the might of Jay and his "flying, lifelink, 6/6" beast.  Very sad.

  Then we moved onto the main event - a Warmachine doubles game!  Myself and Pat teamed up with the Cygnarian Posterboys whilst Rob and Jay became the gruesome twosome from Menoth.  Casters wise it was Kray and Stryker versus Kreoss and Severius.

  The game itself was a fun one, with Jay's mass of medium based sanguine-bonding Exemplars proving just too much for us sadly.  However on the Cygnar front the Hunters and the Mechaniks played a blinder.  In fact they managed to heal my Lancer for over 20 points of damage... amazing!

  Moving on, I'll be posting pictures of the Thunderhead and the three complete Sword Knights I have, as well as in-progress shots of the Gobbers!

Cheers,

Dan

Minecraft Server

So obviously not toy soldier related but I thought I'd share the other interest in my life right now!  Below is a picture of the server I own and game on with friends, if you look really close you should be able to see Dan-town!

Battles on the Noob front!

  So as promised I'll recant my battles from this Monday's club games.  My first game was against RRR who brought a menancing Menoth force to bear against Stryker.  Our lists were as follows:
  • pStryker
  • Thunderhead
  • Swordknights with UA
  • Eiryss
  • Field Mechanics
  • Journeyman Warcaster
  • Hunter
RRR on the other hand had:
  •  Grand Scrutator Severius
  • Reckoner
  • Vanquisher
  • Knights Exemplar
  • Flameguard Cleansers
  • Choir
  • Vassal
  • Wracks
The game itself was over quickly, with the first round going to RRR as he destroyed my Swordknights.  The second and final round went to myself when an unsuspecting Scrutator was electrocuted multiple times by a snipe embued Thunderhead.  All in all it was a pretty cheap trick and one that will only ever work once I think.

  In case you're wondering my force was nothing like the one I posted simply because the parts I want haven't arrived yet from Maelstrom which makes me a sad panda.

  The second game I played against.... who else but pStryker!  Keith, a 40k mastermind was dabbling in Cygnar since no-one had brought 40k (boo!).  The match was a tense affair, with both lists bashing away at each other.  In the end I failed an assassination attempt, then Keith failed an assassination attempt.  Finally with advice from Keith regarding positioning and from Pat regarding shooting your own troops in the back, Stryker killed Stryker and victory was mine... just!

  All in all both games were awesome and the tricks I learnt were as follows:
  1. No one expects the Thunderhead ranged attack since he is famed for his AoE burst.
  2. You can shoot your own models, and its preferable to do so in the back (I was honestly shocked!)
  3. If using a Defender for shooting, it only ever, ever, ever needs 2 focus!
  Thanks to everyone for the help and advice!

Cygnar Triumphant!

  Apologies for not posting recently, however I have some juicy news on the boys in black front.  I played two games today, one versus Menoth and one a strange mirror match versus Evil Stryker!  The good news is there were two victories for Cygnar and I learnt a few new tricks which I'll talk about here soon with more pictures too!

Cygnar Round 2 - The List

  So after conferring with the enigmatic Diceman here is my 35pt list for consideration.  I have taken the lancer to act as an arc-node for Stryker.  The Defender is to smash anything that has been knocked over with its powerful shot.  The squire gives Stryker more desperately needed focus and range.  I've then gone for Gun Mages and the Black 13th to combat tricky opponents (looking at you Cris!).  The Long Gunners were a difficult choice however in our last game the Diceman really showed me the value of their double shot and combined range attack.

  Finally Arlan replaces Gorman De Wulf marshalling the Hunter.  This is to give me more hurting and staying power.  As always any thoughts or changes are appreciated so long as you have a good reason!

Commander Coleman Stryker (*6pts)
* Lancer (6pts)
* Defender (9pts)
* Squire (2pts)
Arcane Tempest Gun Mages (Leader and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
Black 13th Gun Mage Strike Team (4pts)
Long Gunner Infantry (Leader and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
Arlan Strangeways (2pts)
* Hunter (6pts)

Total 35pts
 Next post will be the Hunter once its complete!

Cygnar beginnings

Hello again,

  So here we have the starts of my Cygnar pStryker force (honestly not sure what the p stands for... prime? potato? pink?... the list goes on).  I will post the actual list after this picture post.  First up is the Defender from the starter box set.  I've chosen a non-standard colour scheme, purely because I like my forces to look different.  The aim was to make them appear battle-worn, bad-ass but not evil.  I hope thats come across!

The Defender in all his glory

The Lancer, otherwise known as Mr Arc Node

Finally the ginger wonder himself Stryker!

  I've given the battlegroup the nickname "Strykers Lucky Sixes" in the vain hope it'll mean I'll roll more sixes.  Currently however I'm at 0-4 games wise.

First Post!

  Hello and welcome,

  This will be where I post all my war games and other geeky goings on for you to browse and make inappropriate comments.  First up will be my most recent project - my Cygnar from the Warmachine range.  Then if I actually continue posting, I'll include my up-coming doubles tournament army and some of those sitting in my shiny glass cabinet.
